Forsyth Trail in Satpura

Pachmarhi is quite a treasure in itself with its natural beauty and ancient caves. But this Indian treasure was discovered by a British officer named James Forsyth.

Back in 1857, Colonel Forsyth, a Bengal Lancer, was headed towards Jhansi. On his way, he spotted this beautiful region replete with natural beauty. The British soon developed it as a resort for their forces. J. Forsyth further added to the popularity of Pachmarhi by praising its beauty in his famous book 'The Highlands of Central India'.

The colonial charm of the British era still lingers over the cantonment in the form of cottages and bungalows that reflect the grandness of British architecture. Pachmarhi and its surrounding forests are a part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve as well.

No surprise then that this beautiful region has been attracting visitors from India and abroad, year on year.
