Madhya Pradesh, the heart of India, is a land that echoes the mystic whispers of spirituality and the divine. This beautiful state boasts ancient temples, holy rivers, and pilgrimage sites revered for centuries. One such destination that holds a special place in the hearts of millions of Indians is the Narmada Kund. The holy Narmada River, also known as the Rewa, originates from the Kund and flows through Gujarat and Maharashtra before merging into the Arabian Sea. The river is also considered to be a manifestation of the Hindu goddess Narmada and is believed to have purifying powers.
Narmada kund is a sacred site surrounded by temples and nestled amid the lush green forests. It is believed that taking a dip in the kund purifies one's soul and washes away sins. Many devotees visit the kund to offer their prayers and take part in various rituals and ceremonies. The temple complex around the Kund has several shrines and meditation rooms to spend time in contemplation and self-reflection.
According to legend, the goddess Narmada appeared to Rewa Nayak, a banjara or nomad, in a dream and directed him to clear the site of the present kund. When Rewa Nayak found the spot, it was covered with a dense mass of bamboo trees. He worked hard, day and night, to clear the site. Once he cleared the site of trees, he found a stream, which was none other than the holy river Narmada.
One of the most significant attractions near the Narmada Kund is the Amarkantak temple, a historic temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Here, visitors can explore the temple's intricate architecture and learn about the myths and legends associated with it.

Another must-visit attraction in Amarkantak is Mai Ki Bagiya, a garden with stunning views of the Narmada Valley. This garden is a perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of the natural surroundings. With a serene atmosphere and captivating landscapes, it is a popular place for tourists and locals.
Sonmuda, located at the source of the Son River, is another scenic spot to explore in Amarkantak. The Son River is the principal tributary of the Ganga River, and Sonmuda is considered to be its origin point. The spot is famous for its breathtaking views and is an ideal location for nature lovers and those seeking peace amid nature.
Kapildhara, located near the Amarkantak temple, is another must-visit destination. It is a waterfall surrounded by a tranquil environment.
